Description

ā€œMichael, I’ve detected a significant increase in awesomeness.ā€

And I couldn’t agree more—because this, my friends, is my LEGO MOC tribute to the one, the only, K.I.T.T. Voice Box from Knight Rider.

As a kid, this show wasn’t just TV, it was my entire personality. The flickering red lights, the silky-smooth voice, the idea that a car could sass you while saving your life? Iconic. So naturally, I had to bring it to life in brick form.

This MOC captures that glowing red charm in a clean, display-friendly build. But the magic trick here isn’t electronics, it’s technique.

Instead of relying on SNOT techniques, I crafted the light illusion using 2x2 L-shaped tiles carefully wedged between plates with a half-stud offset. This gives that glorious zig-zag, flickering effect that screams, ā€œYes, I’m a talking car and you should respect me.ā€

And yes, while it’s mostly purist, I did include a couple of stickers for extra accuracy. The side buttons and lights, as well as the center bottom text display, are stickered for that authentic dashboard look. Nothing too flashy, just the perfect finishing touch.

It’s compact, satisfying to build, and hits every nostalgia nerve in just the right way. Whether you’re displaying it next to your monitor or dreaming of building a full KITT dashboard, this is a solid start.

This model is more than a tribute, it’s a childhood dream realized one stud at a time. I built it with the same excitement I felt waiting for the show to start on a school night. And now, I want you to experience that same joy.

What do you think? Want to see a full dash next? Maybe a KARR version? Hit the comments, I’d love to hear your wildest ideas.

Me

My name is Eduardo Sousa.

I am an Electronics Engineer, and I absolutely love LEGO. As a kid, I got at least one LEGO set every Christmas, Easter, and on my birthday.

Recently, in April 2022, because of a challenge from the marketing team at my last company, I built the FMQ logo in LEGO—and that’s how my passion for creating LEGO MOCs truly began.
