Description

This MOC is a tribute to Git’s earlier days. While another build celebrates the current logo, this one captures the old-school look many of us still remember. The green plus signs, the red minus signs, and the word “git” laid out just like a familiar diff view. If you’ve ever spent hours reviewing commits, you’ve definitely seen this pattern burned into your screen.

Designed using LDraw and version-controlled in Git itself, this LEGO model speaks directly to developers who spend most of their days in terminals and IDEs. Every iteration of the model is tracked—just like code. The layout is clean and minimalistic, echoing the command-line interface and vintage Git style.

Perfect for open-source fans, programmers, or anyone with a passion for dev-themed decor, this build merges tech history with LEGO bricks in the most literal sense.

About the Builder

Engineering precision meets the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s. Welcome to Bird Brick Builds, where technical logic and plastic bricks collide.

Electronics engineering is the foundation of my professional life, but LEGO design is the creative heartbeat. This journey began in the golden era of Technic and Classic Space: a time defined by the neon-orange saws of Ice Planet 2002, the magnetic complexity of M:Tron, and the futuristic frontiers of Space Police. That early fascination with how complex systems click together directly influenced the path toward an engineering career.

One unique detail: color-blindness often makes these designs an adventure. If a MOC features a particularly “bold” color scheme, just know it looked perfectly logical through an engineer’s eyes. This perspective adds a unique layer to the design process, often leading to unexpected and striking results.

The return to the brick happened in April 2022. What started as a project for the marketing team at Fabamaq (my previous workplace) to build a corporate logo evolved into a broader mission: turning pop culture, retro tech, and nostalgia into brick reality. From arcade icons to intricate movie props, the goal is always the same: pixel-perfect accuracy.

While premium instructions are hosted on Rebrickable to support the ongoing costs of the project, a free version of most models is shared right here. This is a commitment to giving back to the community that provided the initial inspiration and the techniques used today.

Thank you for visiting the workshop. Now, let’s build something great.
